Hannah & Stephon: Yosemite, CA Adventure Elopement

The social internet creates an unfortunate cliche on many things: hands holding coffee mugs in front of mountains, legs dangling off a cliff’s edge….

…but despite the overwhelming amount of images we see of the astounding Yosemite Valley, it’s impossible to overstate or over-document its beauty. Hannah and Stephon asked me to photograph their intimate elopement with close family overlooking this breathtaking place, which I obviously obliged. Because duh. The next morning we adventured the valley floor, chasing light beams and hiking along the Merced River. It’s truly a location that inspires an entire planet of humans.

After considering how I’d approach this story, one of the things I challenged myself to do was to capture the incredible environment they occupied in a way I hadn’t seen before. A tall order, to be sure. But it felt necessary. I feel it was accomplished here, but I encourage you to press play and enjoy.

A huge thanks to Ben Morrison of New Relic for helping me tell this story.
